Madonna has provoked the wrath of radical Christians, who have threatened her with death, after she published photos of herself with Pope Francis.

The 66-year-old singer posted two images made with the help of AI. In one of the pictures, Madonna in a black lace dress is pressed against the head of the Catholic Church. The caption reads: "Celebrating the weekend like this...".

The second shows the star in a black corset, with the pontiff hugging her around the waist. "It's nice when you're noticed," the second slide is ironically captioned.

However, not everyone appreciated the singer's humor. Catholic believers unleashed a barrage of angry comments on Madonna, turning into threats. "In this life, a bullet awaits you, and in the next, a curse," wrote one user X. As a result, the singer's team became seriously concerned about her safety.

Many of the pop diva's fans also found the posts "creepy" and "unacceptable," accusing her of mindlessly using modern technology. However, there are those who have come to the singer's defense, noting that this is simply a manifestation of her signature sense of humor.

Madonna's relationship with the Catholic Church has always been strained. Back in 1989, her video for "Like a Prayer" with its burning crosses and sexualized image of Jesus caused a storm of indignation among believers.

At that time, representatives of the clergy called for ignoring the singer's work. She was excommunicated three times. In 2022, the star even approached Pope Francis in X with a request for a meeting, calling herself a "good Catholic."
